Workshops

18:00

Wednesday, March 12th

Pope Francis invites us to “dialogue on how we are building the future of the planet and on the need to invest the talents of all, because every change requires an educational path that brings to maturity a new universal solidarity and a more welcoming society”.

In an increasingly fragmented and disconnected world, education is called to build bridges that rebuild the links between school, family, state and culture. In each workshop, we will delve into the various realities with which we must build a solid link. To this end, we must “unite our efforts for a broad educational alliance to form mature people, capable of overcoming fragmentation and oppositions and rebuilding the fabric of relationships for a more fraternal humanity.

Each participant in the Congress will be able to take part in one of the ten workshops with the purpose of rebuilding the “Educational Pact” that has been broken over time.

FAMILY

The family is the first educator of children; therefore, it is essential to deepen the relationship with the school and define strategies for educational linkage between the two.

CULTURAL IDENTITY

Personal identity is constructed in reference to the cultural identity of a territory or nation. With the phenomenon of globalization, local cultural identities have been diluted, leaving personal identity out in the open.

DEMOCRACY

Democracy is the model that has produced the greatest equity and social progress in history, but it is in danger if the younger generations are not educated in social participation and care for the public good.

INFORMATION

Technology generates much more information than we can assimilate and integrate into our lives. Children must be taught to discriminate the torrent of information and transform it into useful knowledge for life.

SPIRITUALITY

Our secularized societies have lost the sense of transcendence and, therefore, the capacity to give meaning to life. Developing the spiritual dimension of the person is an urgency to educate in an integral way.

The great epidemic of advanced societies are mental illnesses that have their origin in the lack of family affection, of meaning in life and of a superficial life.

EMPLOYABILITY

The labor supply is moving fast. New jobs requiring new skills are constantly appearing. Education has to train students for an increasingly flexible labor market.

POVERTY

Despite the great efforts that have been made to reduce poverty rates, inequality remains. Education reduces the inequality gap as long as the poor have access to quality education.
