Claudia has a long career working in the education sector in Latin America, where for more than 35 years she has collaborated with national and international public agencies in multiple countries in the region. It is worth mentioning her recent work as regional director for Latin America and the Caribbean of UNESCO and UNESCO representative in Chile, from where she promoted the progress of the countries of the region towards the goals of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, particularly SDG4 on education.
Prior to this, she was a leading specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank for more than 12 years, where she promoted programs and policies aimed at improving education in several Latin American countries. Earlier in her career she was general director of the educational quality area at the Colombian Ministry of Education. She holds an undergraduate degree in Anthropology from Tulane University and Master’s and doctoral studies in education from Harvard University.
