The General Chapter of 2022 recognizes that the Piarist mission is fully realized not only in the school but also in other platforms such as parishes and worship centers, non-formal education center, boarding schools and homes and higher education.
To accompany all the non-formal education initiatives that have emerged in the Piarist presences, the General Congregation appointed a team that is in charge of drafting a framework project to NETWORK the largest number of initiatives that already exist.
A mission NETWORK begins with the mutual recognition of all those engaged in Piarist education through different platforms of non-formal education. For this, it is necessary to acquire a shared vision and a common language to work together.
In this context, an on-line diploma course in Piarist non-formal education (NFE), designed by the Order’s general NFE team and promoted by the Piarist Christopher Columbus University, began on Saturday 28th with the participation of 50 students from different provinces of the Order.
The aims of the course are:
- To acquire as Pious Schools a shared vision of the NFE.
- To deepen the Piarist sense of the NFE.
- To acquire some tools that help in the educational work in the NFE.
- To learn about NFE experiences that are promoted in the Pious Schools.
- To network among those who work in NFE projects.
The 16 topics of the course will be taught by Piarists (religious and lay) who are involved in different educational projects of non-formal education. Also, in each session, different experiences that are already being carried out in the Piarist presences will be presented.
In the first session, the general team was introduced and the participants had the opportunity to share their first impressions. Javier Alonso gave the first topic and explained the dynamics and methodology of the course.
We are convinced that this formative experience will help us to consolidate the educational projects at the service of children and youth in need that the Piarists encourage.
